Located on a former landfill, the solar field repurposes what was formerly unproductive land/ an underutilized “brownfield” turning it into a rich, biodiverse, and prodective landscape, the solar panels capture/produce/generate enough energy to power two adjacent municipal facilities–the Des Moines Animal Control and greenhouses.
