FARM HOUSE LANE
campus + corporate
Farm House Lane is a pedestrian-focused corridor between Osborn Drive and Wallace Road that will connect Bessey Hall, Horticulture Hall, Troxel Hall, Agronomy Hall, Landscape Architecture, Food Sciences Building, Heady Hall, East Hall, Curtiss Hall, Ross Hall, Farm House and Gerdin Building. As part of the Farm House Lane corridor improvement, the east side of Curtiss Hall was chosen as a site requiring further study. Included in this study were designs for an outdoor plaza, improved connections to campus, increased bike parking, retention of vehicular parking, maximized green space and an improved existing loading dock at Gerdin Building.
Some site challenges and considerations, particularly related to grading, included protecting existing mature oak trees and reducing impact to an underground steam tunnel, which would be costly to reconstruct.
