TBOUNDS@GENUS-LA.COM

Tara’s journey to Genus has been a nearly 20-year sweeping circle across Iowa learning about various forms of engagement with the land. Originally from the Quad Cities, she has a Bachelor of Fine Art and a BA in Field Ecology from Drake University in Des Moines. She attributes a deep connection to native plants from important mentors over the years and spending three years enjoying solitude and contemplation in quality remnant prairies, harvesting seed, and performing prescribed burns.

Tara completed her Master’s in Landscape Architecture at Iowa State University and having worked in property management, then in a multidisciplinary civil engineering firm, is experienced in commercial site plans, pedestrian plazas, private campuses, parks and open spaces, and the establishment of prairie in urban settings. She finds great joy in teamwork and bringing a project from idea to fruition. She is honored to practice landscape architecture in Des Moines and to serve clients, communities, and our natural world. Tara lives in Madrid with her husband and two children where they enjoy life in a small town a stone’s throw from Ames and the Des Moines metro.
